The 100th day of school is a significant occasion for children and students as well. This day should be celebrated to teach students that it’s important. Hold some activities and games for students to have good physical and mental health. Make sure all activities and games are related to number 100. 100 Acts of Kindness
Gather your class together and challenge your students to brainstorm a list of 100 acts of kindness that anyone could do to help make the world a better place. The ideas on this list could be as simple as holding the door open for someone or as big as planning an awesome surprise party! Throughout the year, periodically check in with your class to see if anyone tried out an idea on the list. Consider awarding points or stickers to gamify this activity for even more fun.
100 Years in the Future
Invite students to think about what the world will be like in 100 years. Will people travel using flying cars? What will computer technology look like? Will fashion styles look more futuristic? Celebrate these ideas by throwing a “100 Years in the Future” party where your students can decorate the classroom using the ideas they came up with. Optionally, design a 100 – year – old form so that students fill the form with questions about how they look when they’re 100 years old.
Find 100
In this unique take on show and tell, this game encourages children to find 100 of an item to share with the class. When introducing this activity, suggest items that are reasonably small (pebbles, crayons, pennies, etc.) for the sake of practicality. As they share, children will have the opportunity to develop crucial social-emotional learning (SEL) skills that will serve them well throughout the year.
100-Penny Tower
Find a list of fun facts based on the number 100 and a hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activity that invites children to take a 100-penny tower challenge! First, students sketch their ideas for tower designs. Then, using index cards (or other crafting materials), they will carefully place 100 pennies at the top of the tower and see if their design remains strong under the additional weight.
100th day of school Crown
Students get to decorate a crown, as they write their name and count by tens along the sentence strip. You can guarantee that this year I will be making a crown of my own to celebrate making it 100 days through virtual, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction!
100th day Necklace
Who doesn’t love mixing snacks with counting?! Students get to first count out their fruit loops into groups of ten on a 10-frame. They then string those groups of 10 onto a necklace, separate each ten group with counting by tens cards. My students are always very proud to wear their necklaces at home.
